Recreation means many different things to different people but a commonality most people would agree with is that recreation involves having fun. There are so many ways to have fun in Shreveport-Bossier City and even when other facilities are closed, the casino resorts are open all night long and on holidays with gambling, gourmet restaurant dining, different kinds of shows to see, and even health spas in which to relax. All kinds of sports are enjoyed by residents and tourists to the region. People enjoy bicycling, hiking and jogging along Shreveport-Bossier City’s many bicycling and walking paths in the public parks. Children can learn gymnastics or martial arts by taking classes, or join little league baseball teams, football, basketball, hockey, lacrosse and soccer teams. Adults can also play those same sports or watch them being played by professional and collegiate teams at various local arenas.

Golf, tennis, swimming, boating, fishing, hunting, and the list goes on . .

Golf enthusiasts come from all over the country to see golf tournaments like the Doral and the Honda Qualifiers, the U.S. Open, the U.S. Amateur, the U.S. Mid-Amateur, and the U.S. Public Links qualifiers that are hosted by local golf resorts, and also to play on their challenging courses. Tennis lovers have many public and private tennis courts located around town to choose from. Opportunities for swimming, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, power boating and waterskiing can be found almost all year round on the Red River or at Cross Lake and Lake Bistineau where fishing, hunting and camping are all popular recreational activities. But for some people, recreation means shopping - and this is why we have the Louisiana Boardwalk!
