Quit the hard way

I'm so old and cheap that I quit because I wasn't going to pay the dollar per pack they had just gone too.... in the seventys I think.
However my brother smoked for over 35 years. He quit on friday October 19th at a young age... too young I think.

Thank you everyone... It is comforting to hear kind words from friends. The doctors said the massive stroke that killed Rick was directly related to his heavy smoking all those years. Standing next to my brothers grave I can smell the salt marsh and through the trees can see Battery creek, across which is Port Royal that my brother and I both loved so much.

I'm old friends of mine moved to Virginia in the 80's and they told stories of being busted for smoking cigarettes with children in the car. I thought they were joking way back then. But when something reaches all the way to Shreveport LA, then it is part of Americana..... Sure it is bad, but who are children's guardians? The government or the parents? Why not just license parents? LOL, I've heard that as a joke for decades....

I recall being no more than 15 or 16 and attending concerts in the Hirsch Coliseum (Doobie Brothers, ZZ Top, Styx.....) and the smoke was so thick, I'm a walking deadman 30+ years later......
