Elvis Fans Celebrate 30 Year Death Anniversary

Despite the promise of another furnace-like day, some fans began lining up early in the morning for the candlelight vigil, setting up umbrellas and folding chairs on the sidewalk along four-lane Elvis Presley Boulevard. The memorial was expected to run through the night and into Thursday, the death anniversary.

I was pretty young the day Elvis died, but I DO remember my mother crying!

I'm more a fan of his older stuff.. the rockabilly stuff. He kind of lost me when he started wearin' the jumpsuit thing :)

even in his final years.. Elvis still had one heck of a voice.. could sing that Gospel like no ones business..

LateNight 08-17-2007 09:13 AM

Don't be cruel.

That is a great video! What I can't believe is how calm those girls are when he's singing and standing right next to them in that black leather. Nowadays the girls would be mauling him (just ask Tim McGraw). Also he looks a heck of alot better in that leather than that polyester...I wonder why he didn't stick with the leather?;)

exactly.. that's what friends are for.. I always thought, if Elvis had better friends, he could have been around longer.

Anyways, a good friend is someone who will tell you when you're dressing stupid :)

Texasbelle 08-17-2007 07:07 PM

Hey Latenight ...since you live in the Blanchard area... have you heard Elvis sing " Poke Salad Annie"?

Texasbelle 08-18-2007 10:13 PM

I'm looking forward to hearing him sing "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace" in person in Heaven with the angels in front of our Father! How awesome will that be?!?!
