Inuyasha's Father

If anyone out there is an Inuyasha fan, you'll really like this picture I found of the infamous Inutaisho, the father of Inuyasha and Sesshomaru.

Inutaisho, despite being a great and powerful demon lord, loved humans as much as he did his own people. Before his death, he fathered two sons. The stoic Sesshomaru was his only son who beared full-demon blood. Inuyasha was a half-demon whom Inutaisho conceived with a lovely human woman named Izayoi.

Inutaisho died the night Inuyasha was born after combating a particularly powerful demon. His wounds were not serious, but he left this battle to immediately join another. An attacking army of humans had set fire to his castle and Izayoi was in danger. Inutaisho single-handedly broke through the attacking army's defenses and cut a path to allow Izayoi to escape with their newborn son. Before Izayoi's last sight of her demon love, Inutaisho proclaimed his new son's name...Inuyasha! Izayoi made her escape while Inutaisho continued to hold the advancing army off alone within the burning castle. As the building collapse, it was the end of the honorable demon lord, Inutaisho.

The demon who was most responsible for wounding their father was Ryukotsousei, the dragon demon. Inutaisho couldn't kill him, but he managed to bind him to a mountain side with his own claw and Ryokotsousei remained there until Inuyasha later killed him. Sesshomaru wasn't part of that fight. In fact, Sesshomaru rarely cooperates with Inuyasha in any fashion.

You're right.....I had to look it up and Ryukotsousei is not who they were fighting :(

gonna have to hunt that down....was a good episode.

Well, Inuyasha and Sesshomaru did team up to fight Naraku before the whole Mt. Hakurei fiasco.

I got more information that I apparently forgot to include earlier. Inutaisho carried 3 swords that you can see in the picture above. Two of them are obviously the Tetsusaiga and the Tenseiga, the swords carried by Inuyasha and Sesshomaru, respectively. The sword in Inutaisho's hand is the horrible hell sword, So'unga.

**Spoiler Warning**
The following are events from Inuyasha Movie 3. When Inutaisho died, his followers, Myoga and Totousai, took posession of the 3 swords for safe keeping. In accordance with Inutaisho's wishes, they delivered the Tenseiga to Sesshomaru. The Tetsusaiga somehow found its way to Inutaisho's grave in the netherworld where Inuyasha later recovered it during the early series. So'unga was sealed away because it was believed no demon was strong enough to wield it (think Tokijin x 3). So'unga remained sealed away for hundreds of years until Kagome's grandfather came into posession of it in the modern era. When Inuyasha came for a visit, the sword sensed his demonic presense and broke free of its seal. If you want to know more, watch the movie. :D
