The latest Hollywood news....

Lindsey Lohan arrested last night for having cocaine in her vehicle after jumping a curb in her Mercedes and wrecking her car. She was arrested for DUI and leaving the scene of an accident. The girl is not even 21 yet and was drunk! It is absolutely disgusting to me that these are the types of girls that young teens and preteens are idolizing. My thoughts are that Lindsey and Paris need to spend about six months in the same prison and get their heads on straight.

Are there any good role models out there?

And to think she's already been to rehab!! A long and very rocky road is her destiny if she doesn't address the situation pronto!:nono:
I think Carrie Underwood (Am. Idol) Taylor Swift (country singer) and Amanda Bynes (actress) are still holding onto morals! Hopefully more of these types can become good role models for our kids!

1. It's "role model." A roll model would be a fat chick.

2. Good people are boring, they will never be kids' heroes unless they can do something really awesome and spectacular. Such awesomeness doesn't exist in the entertainment field, especially these days.

Who knows maybe a fat chick would be a good roll/role model?....LOL
But I will correct it...thanks Spelling Nazi!:eyeball:

There's something about that passage from child to adult star that is rocky. So many examples including Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen, too. Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift have not had to make that transition. Kelly Clarkson???? Not sure on that one.

Amanda Bynes has done so well with her transition. According to reports, she still lives with her parents and has goals she wants to achieve. She is a beautiful, talented young lady - A great role model indeed.

I guess Disney's Raven would be a great roll/role model??? :D What do you think, Pokie?

You are so right about Raven but of course she's not fat just curvy!! I hope Carrie and Taylor can make the transition. I think Lee Ann Rimes has turned out okay too.

Maybe being a country girl helps? Carrie was so poised on the American Idol finale - just seemed to handle the fame so well. And Taylor Swift - drop dead gorgeous at such a young age. We saw her in concert here with Rascal Flatts - a natural on the stage. I am with you in hoping that they make it!!

I love Raven, by the way. Curvy is a great description! She was so cute on the old Cosby shows! Now a young lady, too!

Fame, money and power all at a early age. So much to deal with. Their cry for help often goes unheard because the handlers are worried about the bottom line and when they are cashed in on to the next one. You know you can't be first only next.

Loved Gary Allen!! The entire concert was great. We just went to see Charlie Daniels Band - I wasn't sure it was something I was going to like. I was truly amazed - at 71 years of age, that man can play the fiddle!! He was just as awesome on the lead guitar & acoustic. Such a true blue American & supporter of our troops as well. Turned out to be an awesome concert for me after all.

Saw Charlie Daniels Band a few years back too...very entertaining!

I've been to all kinds of music concerts at the casinos and the Century Tel Center! I'm a huge rock fan as well! Helps keep me young!

Rockin in the free world

Texasbelle 05-28-2007 03:52 PM

We saw Taylor Swift open this year at the Centurytel for George Straight. She was incredible and absolutely adorable on stage. She made the greatest statement about writing all of her own songs. She said, "Don't ever piss me off, cheat on me, or be mean to me because if you do...I'll write about you in one of my songs!" I think we will see her around for a long time to come along with Carrie Underwood.

Martina McBride is coming in July. Anybody going to see her?

You can't beat the "big" shows that come to CenturyTel for the flash & flair. I have also found that the smaller shows have a bit more audience to entertainer connection. Jason Aldean was awesome at the Strand! Mark Chesnut had that same connection in a smaller setting.

Pokie, are you a Rick Springstien (Sp?) fan? He's coming soon - Horseshoe I think...

TB, I definitely want to see Martina - not sure on plans yet. How 'bout you?
