Louisiana Now The Only Legal Cockfighting State
 

New Mexico has outlawed cockfighting in a victory for animal welfare groups, leaving Louisiana as the last US state where the controversial practice is legal.

Yet another stat we can all be proud of.....good job Blanco:poke:

Is it really that amusing to watch two chickens fight to the death?

I'm pretty sure gambling is the attraction, not the fight itself.

I guess betting on Lottery tickets, horse races, dog races, slot machines, blackjack, craps, roulette, and video poker in many resturants isn't enough gambling for this state. We need more cockfighting! I bet the addition of cockfighting might make the River District buzzing with people once again, and help Shreveport compete with Bossier.

I have never seen a cock fight and have no plans in the future. I do know they kill chickens by the thousand everyday yet no one cries "fowl" on them doing that :laugh: I think like dog fighting it draws a crowd of less than desirable people and even if they pass yet another law the fights will still go on. It is a blood sport and to most people it is a crime against nature. I am sure it will not be long before it is outlawed and either way it does not matter to me. This PC crap is getting out of hand. I am sure PETA is getting plenty of run out this issue.

I bet there will still be a barn yard fight at Mr. McGregor's when know one is looking :laugh: :laugh:

Right, banning something and stopping something are two differnet things. The fact that lots of other forms of gambling are legal will probably make it harder to ban and enforce any specific one without seeming hypocritical.

"Now if all you cockfighters would simply switch over to poker, craps, or roulette, then we could all just get along fine!"
