How Do You Punish A Crime Like This?
 

A man was arrested of charges of setting his cousin's house on fire in western Illinois early Sunday and killing her five children, authorities and a relative said.

What about the illegal alien that was arrested yesterday in Carthage for raping and killing the four year old boy? How do you punish that?

There is no punishment harsh enough for these people. I can not begin to imagine the pain these parents are enduring. My heart and prayers go out to them.

Going by the old law it would be the right of the family to choose and carry out the penalty for this. I know when I got through with him he would have wished for jail time and I know he would never do it again :mad: He would not be here to do the crime again.

If we could could back to the "old ways" as in the way of the laws of the Old West and such, I do believe we'd see our crime rate significantly drop and drop fast. Personally, I'd love to see them turn him over to old Al.

This whole crime is also by an 'illegal alien'. That in itself is a whole other crime that should be stopped. He came here and was here illegally. The parents knew that and were letting him live with their family. Nobody could have possibly known what he was capable of but yet somehow just maybe if he had been here legally with a background check there could have been something caught to clue someone in.

I was not talking about the wild west and yes they had a rope then. I was talking about the Law of Moses that God gave him. They would have killed him by stoning. Let the family throw the first stone.

Nah, I'm with TBelle. Even that would be too merciful.

Hanging by the rope is quick and easy. Stoning though is not. I think I would go with the Moses method.

Funny how quickly zealots forget about the Bible as well as laws against cruel and unusual punishment when they feel the existing penalties don't fit the crime (another justification for separation of church and state).

Do I disagree with your sentiment? Of course not....it's the hypocrisy I find bothersome.

No repeat offenders with the Moses method. I am sure that would make some people unhappy or nervous but that is how it should be. :rolleyes:

Well first, you hire a lawyer for the illegal alien, for free. Then you give him all the evidence against the alien and see if the lawyer can strike a plea bargain or wiggle off the hook. Then give the alien 10 years worth of appeals. After spending $300k on food, room and board, then take another half million and try to execute him in the most humane way possible, so as not to offend the rights advocates.

Sometimes it sounds like as much punishment for taxpayers and victims than it is for the criminals. Sorry if I sound cynical today. It's just a horrible story and not enough good news around here to talk about.

rhetz you have every right to feel that way because of the bleeding hearts that have made the system this way it was not that way 60 years ago it was a speedy trial and a short rope.

I have no problem with tolerating and even enjoying a variety of cultures and beliefs and acting respectful in our society.
