Web Address .XXX Is Out
The agency that sets the Internet addressing guidelines influencing how people navigate the Web defeated a proposal Friday to give adult Web sites their own ".xxx" domain.

That's too bad. The current setup (that will continue) makes it more difficult* for me to find porn, but easier for my kids to do so.
*not that it's even remotely difficult, but it would be even easier is .xxx was used |
That would only be true for the honest porn dealers. The problem that ICANN is having is HOW they are suppose to make all porn sites use that domain. You know new porn sites are going to continue using .com and the others. Right now, there is no enforcement as to what domain you choose for your site (except for .mil, .gov, and maybe a few other special ones that are reserved for the military and government agencies). ICANN can't force all porn sites to switch to this domain.
I'm all for separating adult content from other sites, believe me! Unfortunately, how can this be done without restricting the freedoms that site owners already have? Maybe they can pass restriction laws that only effect sites with adult content, but that gets into some pretty sticky business when you talk about WHAT constitutes "adult content." |
So sad to hear that Joe

My daughter fell out of her bed last night, but she's fine. I've just been swamped with work.
