Hilton contractor fails to meet Fair Share goal
 

Walton Construction officials have been summoned to the Shreveport city council meeting Tuesday to discuss their struggles complying with the city's Fair Share program, which was created to increase minority participation in city contracts

That must suck to hire subcontractors based on their minority status rather than based on price or quality of work. That just doesn't seem very American to me. How can you manage a job if you don't have 100% control over who you can hire and fire?

Walton executive questioned about minority participating in hotel

Walton Construction states that they tried to contact 138 of the minority businesses and only 8 responded and they hired 6!! That sounds like the construction co. did their part and the businesses didn't put forth much efforts! I feel that the workers/businesses should get the jobs based on merit not on minority status.

I listen to Joe Shyne dress down that contractor on the news this morning :nono: and it was a shame what Joe said. This is another case of using a nonexistent issue to get more power over the black community. I won't my fair share sounds like a greedy little child.

I have first-hand knowledge of this project and I assure you Joe Shyne is in this case as wrong as he always is.

Joe Shyne is a embarrassment not only to Shreveport but to all of man kind.:nono: :nono:
