Yea this was probably a bad idea.. according to the story, they were attempting to illustrate that we "americans" are all getting to fat.. hard to argue with that statement I suppose.. could have been done in some other way I suppose. They certainly got some attention though.

The media gives these freaks a platform and with out news people this would
not ever have been anything but what it was a joke. Hate it when the news is slow they will pick up anything.
