Now that just sux ! I give up on what to believe and not to any more on the internet. I should have googled around some more before I posted that ? Sorry :o

Yeah, I once heard Mr. Rogers was a Navy Seal. We used it as a conversation chuckle when I was in the Navy. Being called a "Mr. Rogers" in the Navy was a way of complimenting the new guys without them even knowing it. ;) New guys always thought it was an insult. :laugh:

Unfortunately, most urban legend sites have chalked Mr. Rogers' military career to mere urban legend and nothing more. They say he wasn't in the military.

Mr. Rogers (Fred McFeely Rogers) never served in the military in any capacity.

Captain Kangaroo did enlist in the Marines.. but did so too late to see any action during WWII. Signed up several weeks after the fighting at Iwo Jima.

Lee Marvin did see action. was wounded and did receive a Purple Heart. Not a Navy Cross. and he was wounded at Saipan not Iwo Jima.

Would have been a fun story.. but no dice :)

I wasn't sure about Captain Kangaroo.. But as soon as I read this thing, I knew Mr. Rogers was no navy seal LOL

You know, talking about the military. In Florida there was a ship named The Sullivan, the reason was years ago there were 5 brothers , last name Sullivan. All 5 brothers served in the navy, and all 5 served on the same ship. Also the ship they were on sank killing all 5 brothers. So they named a ship after them.

Hey Pie :clap: Thanks for saving my ass here and keeping the thread going. I have read about those five brothers I did not know the ship was named after them. I think there was the same kind of real life deal behind the Private Ryan movie but I dare not make a guess :rolleyes: I am sure LN can help us with that right :clap: Help LN I need help :idea:

LOL , I do remember hearing the story about the Sulivan brothers? supposedly why brothers aren't allowed to serve together on the same ship ?
or something to that affect ?

Seems there's a song out there about the Sulivans ?
