Gas Prices
 

Gas has reached $3.00 a gallon. Where is the outcry from the media? Seems a few months ago, before the elections, there was mass histeria about gas maybe reaching $3.00. What's going on now. It keeps climbing, I don"t here any news at all about what is the government going to do to stop the gouging from BIG OIL. Oh wait the Democrats are in charge now. Do you think there might be some media bias? I'm intersted in any thoughts.

It's not a political issue, to the greatest extent. I was talking about this earlier today at lunch.

The corporate world has evolved into the notion that unless there is profit, there is no need to perform any service. I believe that since Exxon and other oil companies are among the richest corporations in America and the world, they should rely on performing their duty to the American public by giving efficient gas prices. If they can't get their oil supplied as cheap as they want, tough ****, people lose out on money, but something as necessary to our modern lives as oil and gasoline, these things can't be inflating as rapidly as they are and still remain in control.

The government allows this to go on because they have a very nice tax on gasoline, and they'd like to enjoy the luxury of extra free money into their pocket with a hole larger than the American public's *******s. Things need to be seriously regulated if we're already living in the socialist society that we are, they need to either own up to the full freedoms that were given at the foundation of the country or admit the turn to socialism in economic and political America.

Santabot, once again you miss my point. This is not about regulation of any business. I'm asking the question about the media and the democrats. If you would quit smoking dope and dropping acid for a couple of days maybe you could see what's going on around you. This is a global economy now. China and India are enjoying more economic freedom than ever before, and they are major players in the consumption of petrolium know. The media failed to report this when they were building histeria a few months ago.

But I brought up relevant points that helped support your first post. I said it wasn't about Democrats or some media bull****, media can't control gas prices, and neither can Democrats, how can you have a debate with yourself if you don't want anybody else to say anything except quote and restate your opinion? Jeez. :nono:

I noticed that too Purpahurl. Last go round it was all over the tv, newspapers etc. trying to get people in a frenzy. Now I've seen very little attention drawn to it?? Peculiar indeed.:confused:

That's my point Pocahontis. There is not even a back page article. We were seeing what it was in California compared to us and the rest of the nation. I don't have a clue what it is in CA. right now, go figure.

:clapbig: :clapbig: :clapbig: Very well said Purpahurl. The media did create mass hysteria several months back over oil prices when the Republicans were in charge and how the Republicans were to blame for it. Funny how we are not seeing anything right now in the media about it.

My question to you and others is: Does the price of oil have an influence over your driving decisions of the day? Have you down sized your vehicle?

I have Chevy 2500 KC 4WD I get 11 mpg. No, but it sure is frustraiting to pay to fill up.

I have a car that gets 36 mpg. I like it. I don't like spending the money I do on gas, even though I buy it 1/3 as much as you do.

They rose again today. Still no news, or outcry.

Then do it yourself, like I do. When there's an issue, speak out instead of talking amongst others quietly, make it a real deal and make somebody notice so they feel threatened enough to make changes in your favor. Waiting around for change will never be the cause of anything, the same goes for prayer. You have to do something in order for a response to come about, nothing's going to come to you.

Not being negative, just encouraging. Let's speak out together, make a message heard where it may even be unpopular.

You know, it's been my experience that driving a 6 cylinder Buick Century is considerably more affective than driving a giant 4WD truck that gets 11mpg OR *****ing about the rising cost of gas.

Just some friendly blood pressure advice.
