Have you ever seen a celebrity or someone from a movie here in Shreveport or Bossier?

Yes! My sister and I actually saw Jennifer Tilly at the mall in Bossier last year. My sister recognized her and pointed her out to me. I recognized her voice when I heard her speak to a cashier.

My mom used to play golf with Kevin Costner.

I heard Kevin Costner swims regularly at the indoor pool at LSUS. Dunno if he still does. I hear that he really likes our area though.

I've heard the same. When they filmed The Guardian here in town, I met one of the production crew members at their crew party and he told me that Kevin Costner lives in Bossier. I haven't found any confirmation though.

Where did your mother play golf with him at? I know Stonebridge has a golf course and really nice, expensive housing. That would be best guess for where Kevin Costner lives.

Sandra Bullock was filming outside my work place, but they asked us to all stay inside and to pull the shades! Can you imagine? I can't wait to see Premoniton to see if you can see me "poking" through the shades! LOL She looked completely normal not all glammed up! I sure would like to run into Tom Cruise!:cool:

I snapped a photo of my old buddy working at Master Cuts in the mall. Sad, but since our show he's had to find other work. U.S. Postal Service wanted nothing to do with him.

Being an "extra" is fun!!
 

Both my kids have had the opportunity to work as extras on the sets of movies in town. I watched as they worked with Sandra Bullock and the others from Premonition. Also, the elementary kids in my school were extras as well. Pretty awesome to be close to people we consider stars. There are very strict rules against conversation and pictures, though. So you have to just enjoy the moment and savor the memories. Then you spend the whole time watching the movie looking for some sign of the ones you know in the background shots.

Tom and Katie Cruise are coming over to my house for dinner tonight and a birthday party for Suri. Is that going to count?:laugh:

Kevin was living at Southern Trace. that's where she played with him. She played with his wife (at least i think it was his wife, maybe his girlfriend) a bunch, but only got to play with Kevin a few times.

I can't wait for them to make a movie here that doesn't look like watching it would make me claw my eyes out*. The wife and thought "Thief" was OK, but every other project filmed here has been a steaming pile.

They were filming some scenes for that Jessica Simpson movie a few months ago in front of the S'port Club and the old guys up on the 3rd floor were saying disgusting things abut her, it was great.

Always fun to watch my kids!! Sports, school stuff, etc. I know from reading your posts you have that same feeling about your girls.

Our experience with the movie set was hurry up and wait, hurry up and wait!! Then, they do exactly the same scene over, and over, and over - in total silence. Only the real actors can speak - not the extras. The actors get paid for every word, so real money comes in there. But $80 a day for an 11 year old was really fun cash for him. My 16 y/o daughter had a full week - nice paycheck for her.

It's only one or two days at a time, though. It would be hard to have any consistent cash flow as an adult. Also, if your child is on the set, a parent is required to be there. So, it's a two for one deal. That's when you need a good book, 'cause no talking among the excited parents either!

But what an exciting memory for my kids!! And what a great experience for Shreveport Bossier to host this industry!!

Now that's pretty funny! The paparazzi chases Katie all over the country but she calls the Shreveport police. Guess she likes that Mayberry local police hospitality! You know all the local Barney Fife's ate this up!:)

What do you think you would do if you were somewhere in Shreveport and witnessed the papparazzi stalking one of the stars? Would you intervene if you could or walk away? Personally I am appalled at the papparrazzi and their harrassment of the stars.

No, and I won't actively look or even care to notice them in public, either.

Celebrities are professionals just like anyone else, and I wouldn't dare bother one by trying to acknowledge them and adding additional stress to their daily lives.

I believe that's one of the smartest things I've seen you say and I actually agree with you.

My husband has had people who've worked in his office who've said "Oh we saw Kevin Costner in Superior Steakhouse and we went up to him to talk to him..blah blah blah". They were dumb enough to ask me what I thought. Well, I likened it to being out with my husband and trying to have a quiet dinner which can be difficult many times, most times due to his profession. I nicely explained in my Type A personality kind of way how rude I think it is to interrupt someone's dinner when they are quite obviously having dinner. These are people, ordinary people, just like any of us and deserve privacy unless they are perhaps out in the middle of a parking lot or some such place and opportunity presents itself in that manner. A dinner table is private space and should be respected as such.

The girl didn't like it but I think she got the point when I gave her some examples of how often and how rudely people interrupt our dinners and time out with our family. People need to respect the actors and actresses privacy while they are filming in our town and bringing business to our town. Let's make their stays here as pleasant as possible.

Depends on which star they were stalking. If it was Kevin Costner, I would hope bird droppings fall on their lens. But if it was Tom Cruise, I might walk up and shake his hand! ;) Nobody messes wit my girl Brooke.

TB, I agree, these people get dressed and go to the bathroom just like us. Leave them alone. It could be perceived as idolatry, I have a real problem with that. Basically they pretend to be something or somebody they are not. That is their job. BUT when they start telling us how we need to live that is a problem.

If the stars are sitting down dining and trying to have a quiet dinner that is one thing. If they are out and about and one just happens to run into them say at Target (that seems to be the hangout) I think you should be able to approach them politely. I think they do owe their admirers some gratitude for making them multimillionaires!!! I don't however want them to try and run the country.:D

oh please. They are not "professionals just like anyone else." They are all self-serving hypocrites who use the media to exploit their cause du jour. As for "adding additional stress to their daily lives" give me a break.

I hear TC has the entire floor of one of the casinos rented out so as his wife and little baby won't be disturbed. I can't wait for him to open his big mouth and one day comment on the "homeless" situation...who is he to believe people actually care what he thinks.

They are not staying in a casino. They have rented a house out on the lake. I agree that they are professionals like others and do have a right to privacy.

Yes they are renting a house but I also know they have used one of the casinos here as well. If not for the "fans" they would not be who they are. Don't get me wrong I'm not advocating "stalking" but the attention they get they ask for. Why does everyone try to "protect" them...they are what they are. Overpaid and barely literate. Case in point, just listen to some of the comments TC has made. He's a real understanding, compassionate one!

If I saw TC, I would not bother him, but it sure would be a thrill to see him in person.

No, they're not. They make their living by being famous, not through their craft. They're celebrities first, actors second.

Exactly my point, Joepole. They make millions from their celebrity status and then turn around and boohoo about their privacy...then try to intergect their liberal crazy views on the world while they America bash. If they would just stay mute anytime they are "off screen" things would be better.

Most people don't realize that fame comes at the cost of your private life. When you become a popular entertainer or a role model for society, everyone is going to watch you every moment they can.

The combination of the two has killed many a man or woman. People will tell them anything they want to hear so they never see the bullet coming until they end up on the front of a tabloid with all their private life sold for public consumption.
