1. 1793 - During the French Revolution, King Louis XVI was executed on the guillotine. He had been condemned for treason.
2. 1861 - The future president of the Confederacy, Jefferson Davis of Mississippi, resigned from the U.S. Senate. Four other Southerners also resigned.
3. 1924 - Soviet leader Vladimir Llyich Lenin died. Joseph Stalin began a purge of his rivals for the leadership of the Soviet Union.
4. 2007 - New Orleans Saints play against the Chicago Bears for the NFC Championship game.

Me too but that is when I get up everyday so you go take a nap if you can and it will be time before you know it. Now the "Saints" have been 40 years waiting on the big win (40 = probation) now we know the Saints are coming if they win today there will be no stoping them. I will check your post at half time and at the end of the game so do not get so gummy you can not type :D

On this day in history we congratulate the New Orleans Saints for the best year that the team has ever had. Not to be sad but glad for what we have and not sad for what we would like to have. Good job Saints !
