Photography

Anyone else here a photographer? Professional or hobbyist, it doesn't matter. I love photography and it would be cool if someone else here shared this passion and could join me in posting their "local" photos. I love Shreveport-Bossier and it's such a photogenic place.

Here are a handful of mine of which I'm extremely fond:

Anyone else have Shreveport-Bossier photos they wish to share? FYI the copyright info above is not to be rude, but it's something I always post along with my photos since I've had many of my works published without my permission in the past.

some nice photos there SBC. Thanks for posting. I enjoy photography as well, but afraid I don't have many of architecture, much less local. But there's a few groups here on the site, that do just that.

LateNight... thank you, I had no idea there were such groups on this site but that is awesome.

metroguy, thanks for sharing. I'm more of a hobbiest but I love photography. I started a SBLive group called "Sights of Shreveport"

http://www.shreveport.com/sightsofshreveport

Please check it out and it would be great if you could join the group and post some of your photos. Your post inspires me to give it another push. I have some good photos I've been meaning to post up there.

I used to do landscape and architecture photography for fun, but lately my "having kids" hobby has pushed all the other ones to the back burner.

Here's one of the few I have digital, since I took it last year.

SBCmetroguy 10-14-2007 03:39 PM

Very cool guys. Warlord, nice work! That very last image could very well be a stock photo!

Joepole... I love panoramics and that one is different. But it's a nice landscape... is that your property? I like it.

joepole 10-14-2007 07:38 PM

It's where a friend of mine is about to start building a house out on Ellerbe.

Morpheus 10-14-2007 10:33 PM

Hey, those are great pics all. I especially like the night shots.

Nice photo Joe. Was that shot with a digital or 35mm ?

joepole 10-15-2007 08:53 AM

That is about 5 or 6 digital shots stitched together. I didn't even have a nice camera with me that day, it was just a little Pentax point-and-shoot.

looks good. seamless. what photo editor?

Isaac-Saxxon 10-15-2007 06:36 PM

When I was working at the print shop at LA Tech the word "was" you can never get better than the original. Times have changed it was 1982

joepole 10-15-2007 09:30 PM

Adjusted levels and whatnot in Photoshop (probably CS or CS2 at the time) and did the stitching with PTgui.

Pretty pricey. You must be a pro.

joepole 10-16-2007 08:25 AM

No, just really like doing panoramas and that's the best. I have Photoshop for work, which is unrelated to photography in almost every way.

I know everybody likes different things my favorite is sunrise in the woods or on the lake. I carry this Nikon digital camera with me all the time. I have many more but here are three that I like. Good thread. Computers are all about the visual contact.

Summer Solstice at sunrise at the Port Lake on Red River.

Attachment 1603

A solstice occurs twice a year, whenever Earth's axis tilts the most toward or away from the Sun, causing the Sun to be farthest north or south at noon.

Nice, I took one really similar to that last one a few years ago, but it looks terrible scaled down for the web.

Thank you Morpheus. I hope to have a new perspective from the first photo on Sat morning :D Have you any more photos to add to this thread ? I liked the photo that joepole posted. Hey joe do you have anymore photos ?

joepole 10-25-2007 08:50 AM

Most of my recent photos are of my kids.

That's the funniest Japanese maple I ever did see! ;)

Seriously those are some nice pictures everyone. I'll have to dust off my old camera and take some nature pictures soon and try to catch up.

joepole 10-28-2007 02:21 AM

Here's one I took Friday afternoon at First Baptist. Shots with crowds are hard because people move between shots. Notice the guy with two left arms.

Also, did you know that you're not allowed to enroll at FB unless you drive an SUV or truck? Who's the one brave soul in the Honda?

LOL I used to think the same thing about St. Josephs, when my kids went there, I'd go up there, and every other 'parent' vehicle was a freakin' SUBURBAN.

Those are some good pics vix. Is that a Staffordshire ? Nice looking hound you got there. That other photo looks like the bad boys, bad boys have come:laugh:

vixweb 10-28-2007 06:41 PM

Thanks Isaac!
CAESAR is an American Pit Bull Terrier(APBT)- Red nose Red with green eyes:cool: The staffordshire Terrier has a more rounded head, where the APBT looks more like a "Gator-Head"
The pic with the cops was just some idiot who fell asleep @ the wheel on his way to work:laugh:

OK people pony up some of your favorite photos. They do not have to be great look at mine. I shoot a 2.0 Nikon and still get some that look OK. I would love to shoot some like joe does with his computer. Enjoy yesterday morning walking through the woods after sunrise. This is in South Bossier.

Taken from a nose bleed deer stand

Yeah, that freaked me out at first.. that's the Blue Neon "Bar" sign lighting it from that back.. guess it turned the whiskey green :)

It's the all new LateNight™ Whiskey.

rhertz 11-10-2007 06:41 PM

Nice photo there LN... Crown Royal should use you as their photographer. Only they always seem to use full bottles. What's up with that. If its less than half full, it must be good stuff right?! :D
