Carrabba's

hope I spelled that right...

We had dinner at Carrabba's to celebrate my birthday on Thursday, Aug 31 and had an excellent time. Our food was cooked exactly as we ordered and was really quite delicious, and our service was impeccable.

I have my fair share of bad experiences at local restaurants, usually due to the poor level of service. I think it's time I started pointing out places that were a step above and suggesting to others they visit the same.

Corner of 70th & Youree - in front of Belk, Office Depot, Hobby Lobby, etc.
and yep - he earned a good tip. I pay for the good service when I get it, and let them know I didn't appreciate it when it's not up to par.

for the record, I'd recommend Carrabba's over Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill as far as chain Italian any day - it's really several rungs on the ladder above the others.

As for affordable local Italian flair, I'd suggest either Monjuni's (either Portico or Louisiana St.) for the family-friendly atmosphere, or Olive Street Bistro for a more romantic evening. There are other choices around town, but for me, these work well.

I've heard good things about Carrabba's. I want to try it. I have eaten at Romano's Macaroni resturant twice and the service was not good the second time. Our food arrived backwards (main entree before the appetizer) and the drinks were slow. However it was Sat night and the manager was quick to correct the problems.

Carrabba's has great food and service. They also have happy hour everyday m-f 4-6 (bad time really unless you don't work) I have eaten there many times and if you want a great server his name is Daniel. His laugh alone will make you laugh. The best thing I have eaten on the menu is Chicken Marsala
Grilled chicken breast topped with mushrooms, prosciutto and our Lombardo Marsala wine sauce
