Happy Thanksgiving!!

Life isn’t perfect, but I have a lot to be thankful for this year. My family is doing well. No divorce, accidents, or deaths this year. My kids are making good grades. Business is good and getting better. My faith is strong as ever, and I’m thankful for that. I live in the greatest democracy on earth (despite all the press). My table is full and so is my tummy (or soon will be). Not everyone is that fortunate, I can tell that by watching and reading the news everyday. Its good to be blessed, and its great to be blessed in America, the land of opportunity!

Sorry for thinking out loud……I’m just trying to psyche myself into getting up at 2am to put the turkey on the smoker!!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!

Pocahontas 11-21-2007 01:43 PM

Are you having the turkey for breakfast:confused:

Happy Thanksgiving to ALL my SB Friends!!!!

I, too, have much to be thankful for in my life. My children and husband are healthy and happy. Life is good. We live in the best nation in the world. I am most thankful for Jesus Christ as my Savior because without him ALL of this would not be possible.

Well Pokie I done 2 chocolate, 2 lemon ice box, 2 peanut butter, and an extra huge bannana pudding [ I had to double it 4 times] homemade choclate pudding, and a pumpkin. Now I'm tired. I also done dressing except for baking it, english pea salad. Now I'm resting.

Job well done!!! We have a couple of pumpkin pies in the works complete with homemade whipped cream...

BTW, is there any difference between "heavy cream" and "whipping cream"... I know we ain't talkin' half-n-half here. :D

Heavy cream has a milk fat content of between 36 and 40 percent. Whipping cream will double in volume when whipped. whipping cream has 30–36% fat. One has more fat content is all.

yeah that's fine and all, but just for the record, Krogers was plum out of "heavy whipping cream" in the half-pint blue carton, so I got two of the little cartons of "whipping cream" in the small red carton... (size like we had in grade school) LOL, at least I got something... :D

Just checking in. Happy Thanksgiving. We're having a full house tomorrow as well, but Mrs. Morph is doing all the cooking. I'm looking forward to napping on the couch.

Wow! Now that's impressive!:bow:How many are you feeding? I made my dressing too today. My daughters are cooking some this year so I have less to do. I've got to make my twice baked potatoes tomorrow still. My family prefers those over mashed. Getting hungry thinking about it all!:lick:

I'm hungry now, just reading about it. I agree twice baked>mashed. Lucky folks at Casa de Pokie, that's for sure.

Now you're talkin'. You're a good man to take on as much as you do. I overdid the wine last night, but I was a teetotaler today, so I should be good to go tomorrow:D Too much red hurts me every time. I think I'll go with a nice gewurztraminer tomorrow.

rhertz 11-22-2007 12:53 AM

Sorry you had to work today Vix. It's just not Happy Thanksgiving without turkey and dressing... Hope you got some.. I'd just as soon miss my cabbage and black-eyed peas on new years before I'd miss my dressing on Thanksgiving. :D

Pocahontas 11-22-2007 10:17 PM

I'm stuffed as well. So nice and chilly that we had a fire in the fireplace!
I love it! It is beginning to feel alot like Christmas now with the drop in temps!
Pie I wish I could get motivated to do some Christmas decorating. I love it once it's put up but the prepping drives me nuts.

vixweb 11-22-2007 10:24 PM

Well, I've been in a ditch working an accident:eek:
But I just finished some T&D from moms!:D And I am stuuuufffed!
It was worth the wait! Tomorrow should be fun:rolleyes: Lots of traffic, and crowded parking lots:nono:

Isaac-Saxxon 11-23-2007 07:15 AM

rhertz I cook my turkey on a smoker for three hours and it turned out great. I think if had left it for six it would have been over cooked. Anyhoo it was great FFNB  time for left overs for a few days. Vix glad you got your dinner and I know you will be busy today with the traffic. On to the next holiday and then the new year !

Pocahontas 11-23-2007 09:53 AM

That is why I was wondering why rhertz said he was getting up so early to smoke the turkey. It only takes us about 3-4 hrs. as well and it was a fairly large bird.

Everyone have a great Friday!!! I'm off to my parents house for a weekend of more celebrating and family reunions!
