Environmental Hysteria Exemplified

The mentality of the swing voters that run this country is well exemplified in this video  These are very same people that will let emotions drive their every move :nono: with no analytical thought what so ever.

I was first tempted to say gosh what idiots, but then I thought there are times when I am gullible and well intended as well. It is so easy to sway people these days on the premise of global warming and saving the enviornment. Thanks to Penn and Teller for a great eye opener!

Neo 07-18-2007 02:21 PM

Well, I guess this goes to show uneducated voting should be banned! or maybe Greenpeace, democrats, and tree huggers should be banned, or maybe they should stick to their guns and not use oil products, tree products, nor pollute the environment with their hot air... I guess they will walk to work, not use money, nor should they pass gas. What a wonderful world it could be!!!

I can only imagine how much Greenpeace spends on petroleum each month to power their ships. Is it thousand of gallons? Ten thousands? Hundreds? No telling how large those fuel tanks are. But it's a lot of "carbon credits" to overcome before they break even so to speak.

These green peace-rs agenda is so far left they worship AL Gore :nono: I would laugh but there is nothing funny about their attack on our government and private business. The fools on the video show the mentality of the far left and how looking cool is better than being smart. Bleeding hearts are a cancer to this country just as bad as dead beats that will not work. It is time to expand drilling in Alaska and tell those rag heads to keep their oil. If all the lefties would just get a bike and stop the little elite socialist clubs the country would be much better off.

Not Just Lefties

Judging from the comments I guess the majority of those posting here would have to include themselves in the group of joiners.

1) Nowhere in the video do Penn & Teller say that the people they are asking to sign the petition are of one political point of view or the other.

2) The point of the video was to demonstrate people's willingness to join "politically motivated arseholes that may not really care that much about the environment but see this is a chance for them to raise money for what they think is a good idea."

3) Penn & Teller never say that the environment isn't in trouble.

Do some critical thinking for yourself instead of letting Penn & Teller (or anyone else) do it for you.

BTW - I hunt, and know many hunters who will tell you that climate change is real, they see it firsthand in places like the Arctic Circle where Polar Bear are getting scarce. Also, for the first time in human memory the northwest passage (the ocean from the Atlantic to the Pacific through the Arctic Circle over Canada) is free of ice, but don't take my word for it, use your computer to do a little research of your own.

PS - I do agree with one thing, Greenpeace should be using sailboats.

joepole 11-05-2007 02:20 PM

Maybe their boats used bio-diesel.

Or maybe they use regular diesel. I don't think Greenpeace is against people using oil and its derivatives in boats.

That is....unless the "boat" is an oil tanker.... :D

Are you not opposed to oil spills?

Jvanv 11-05-2007 03:56 PM

Oil's Well that Spoils Well

Asking Greenpeace to give up their boats would be the equivalent of asking the US to give up our WMD. Oops, I forgot, we don't have any WMD, only the bad guys have WMD. We have defensive countermeasures, but I digress.

The boats are one of their weapons Greenpeace uses in the war on polluters, would you ask the oil companies to give up their tankers? Or their offshore untaxed earnings? :)

Each side will use the weapons available to them, something about all is fair comes to mind. I'm certain that if the oil companies could devise a product that was non-polluting then the Greenpeace boys would park their boats, and make nice. :D

chitlin 11-05-2007 04:21 PM

They aught to just use whale oil. I hear it's pretty clean. These whales aren't doing anything but taking up space. If they start using whales maybe the sea levels would go down and make room for the ice that's supposed to flood the ocean.

Oil Spills are a necessary evil of the oil industry. Unfortunately accidents happen, even with Greenpeace on the job.

joepole 11-05-2007 04:58 PM

Yes, and Greenpeace wants the older, more dangerous style (single-hull) of ship to not be used. That doesn't make their use of oil-burning ships hypocritical in any way.

vixweb 11-05-2007 05:16 PM

JVANV You sound like you have some LIBeral thoughts with your comments on WMD and "only the bad guys"....would you tell us what you really think? Also, If you think "global warming" is a real problem, tell us why please.- I want to debate:D:peace:

vixweb 11-05-2007 05:25 PM

I would also like to add:
1. Penn and Teller have an agenda, that is well known.
2. Climate change is real, but only in the sense that it changes regularly.
Since the Earths temperatures have fluxuated throughout history, why is this time any different? Do some research on that- Global warming is a farce....Wake up!

Climate cycles

I remember in the late 60's and early 70's when all the news was about the upcoming ice age.

Greenpeace doesn't stop there. I once donated to Greenpeace a long time ago when I was a scuba diver, and my name is in the manifest of the rainbow warrior. But I have come to question much of the "green" agenda thanks to Al Gore, inventor of the Internet.... ;)

Swing Voter

Well I'm one of those Swing Voters you were talking about.

Whether or not you believe that global warming is real or not I say it makes sense to switch to other forms of energy that WE can control as a matter of national security. I would prefer that those various other sources of energy be non-polluting forms of energy just because I HATE SMOG!

I support gun ownership but also believe that there should be stricter rules about who we allow to own guns.

I think we should re-deploy all the troops that are guarding the oil pipelines in Iraq to the Texas border and give them orders to shoot anything that moves.

I think government should operate within a BALANCED budget, I do.

I think that anyone who receives assistance from the government should be required to either earn it or pay it back, but I also understand that poor hungry people are a bigger threat to society than wealthy well-fed ones. Some social assistance programs are necessary to prevent revolution.

I'll leave it up to you to figure out what my political persuasions are.
