There's an ice rink in the Festival Plaza ? that's news to me.

Ice Rink

Yeah, they just finished it the other day. It's under the new wood-beamed roof thing they built a few months ago, just on the river side of Spring Street.

I heard on the radio that there is also an upcoming "Rockets on the Red" event and a Santa Claus choo choo train for kids, to kick off the holiday season. I think Shreveport needs more of this sort of thing at the Riverfront to compete with Louisiana Boardwalk.

There are actually people in our city that know how to ice-skate? Well, yeah, I almost forgot about our hockey team. :D So this begs the question...does knowing how to roller-skate translate into ice-skating?

Compete

I don't think the Festival Plaza and the Boardwalk can compete, they're totally different venues with totally different purposes. One is a public event facility and the other is a private entertainment/retail/restaurant facility. Thaey're as different as CenturyTel and St. Vincent Mall.

True joepole, I didn't mean in such a direct sense. But at least revenue and prestige wise. Something more than Larry Flints Hustlers Club.

From what I remember about ice skating.. the motions are similar to roller skating. The thing about ice skating is the need for some stronger ankles I think ? since you are standing on a blade and not 4 wheels.. I guess roller-blading falls somewhere in-between. From what I remember anyway, haven't been on the ice since some 30+ years ago!
