Wow, this is kind of a trip.. one huge hardware store.. 120 Texas Street.. that would put this like right on the corner of Commerce and Texas Street, just under the Bridge, like across from Humphrees in the old Shreve Square.

here's what that intersection looks like now.. most of it has been leveled as of recent years..

That second picture is way out of date, as well. If it's from Google Earth they use the old USGS 1m imagery which I believe was flown in February or March of 2002.

Aha.. I was wondering, I guess that's why I can see the Red River District ? or is it there, and I'm just blind.. but yea, I was having a hard time matching that pic up with what I THOUGH it should look like now.

Don't you just wish you could go shopping there right now, then turn around and come home to 2007 and sell everything you bought on ebay? :D

I miss 'hardware' stores. the Neighborhood hardware store.
yes, I understand the ramifications of that statement.. and why we have super walmarts and home depots and lowes.. etc etc etc..

But I miss them none the less.

If I had my druthers.. I would own/operate a small hardware store, somewhere in middle america in a small town. Back before we had Home Depots :)

We used to have a small hardware store out here on hwy 1, just before 1 and 71 split going north.. I remember one day some years ago, heading south into town, we passed up this hardware store, on the way back, it had been COMPLETELY LEVELED by a tornado.. it was very surreal.

That would be Seth Bullock owner and proprietor and also sheriff at one point. And Sol Star, who went on to become mayor of Deadwood.

:D
