I'm pretty sure this was done with some form of computer "sequencer" such as a MIDI sequencer used to control light and sound systems and keep them in sync. Maybe the owner works or owns a sound shop or something. The electrical wiring was obviously a lot of hard work. But some homeowners do go to extremes when it comes to Christmas lights. I saw a show the other day on DISC or TLC called "Extreme Christmas Lights" or something close. I can't imagine a light bill over $1000 per month! But to make all those children and adults smile, maybe it is worth it. and it's only for a couple of months.
