Yup, I have a smiley test sheet on my computer with a bunch of different colored bodies, plain white smiley faces with all kinds of expressions, and a few smiley props like swords, shoes, various hand positions, and stuff like that. I just overlay a face over a body to make a colored smiley and I add whatever props I need and just draw the frames. It sounds more complicated than it really is.

I can usually crank a smiley out in like an hour or so if it doesn't require much redrawing or making any new props. Whenever a do make new props, I save them for later use.
