SPD Mike VanSant retires; Capt. Mark Holley promoted to Assistant Chief of Police
SPD Promotions Ceremony to be held Thursday, December 20th By: Tom Pace, SBLive!, Executive Editor December 18th , 2007 A special Farewell Party was held for 30-year SPD veteran Mike VanSant, who retired last Friday, December 14th… Mayor Glover, SPD Chief Henry Whitehorn, Bishop Larry Brandon, and a whole room filled with colleagues, friends and family attended the ceremony at Shreveport’s Riverview Hall. He was presented with an official Mayor’s Proclamation, along with other awards. VanSant filled in as Interim Chief of Police, while Mayor Cedric Glover conducted his search for a permanent replacement for retired Chief Mike Campbell. Glover later hired Henry Whitehorn as the new Shreveport chief of Police. Now, SPD Captain Mark Holley is being promoted to Assistant Chief of Police, filling the shoes left vacant when VanSant retired. The Shreveport Police promotions ceremony will be held this Thursday, December 20th, at 3 p.m. in the Police Assembly Room, located on the second floor of SPD, 1234 Texas Avenue.
