basset hound that somehow found its way about 430 miles east of its home in Riverside, Calif. is about to be reunited with its family
The dog needed a vacation.

I helped a company employee move to Shreveport from Austin, Texas once. We rented a truck in Austin, loaded it at his apartment, drove to Shreveport and began unloading.
At the back of the load behind the sofa I found a white cat. We thought it was a Shreveport neighborhood cat but turns out the cat boarded in Austin and took the trip.

And yes.... after a two week visit she was returned to the owner in Austin. Everyone, including the cat's owner said the same thing, " she must have needed a vacation."

I'm glad you were able to return it to it's owner, alot of people would have dumped it [ uh Belle] or just kept it. Then the real owners never know what happened to it. You are a good person.

I would love to know who dumped the one at my house this week and why? She is so sweet and a great dog. She has a twelve year old boy wrapped around her paw! I think if you listen closely to her she keeps saying, "Thank God for this house!"

She was covered with ticks and definitely malnourised when she strolled up Saturday. We've de-ticked her and have her eating three times a day to get her weight where it needs to be. BUT don't get any ideas about dumping your unwanted animals at my house. This is the last one! (crossing my fingers)

People know when they dump a dog there will a soft heart some where that will take them in. This is why they go out to the country. When I worked on a dairy farm in collage the owner would just shoot them. He was a farmer not a kennel and these dogs can pack up and do livestock damage to new born calf's so he did what he had to do. So your dog Texasbelle is one of the lucky ones to end up at your house. Maybe you could start a dog rescue.
