Cool Pirates: At World's End *SPOILERS*

I just got back from the movies. I saw the all anticipated Pirates of the Caribean: At World's End. Following is my review and I'll be throwing some spoilers in because they're FUN! Therefore, if you don't like spoilers, click the BACK button now!!!

The movie was full of surprises and TONS more humor than both of the other two movies combined. The hilarity is truly non-stop as Jack and Barbossa are at constant odds throughout the movie. What I found most amusing is that many of the characters who were not pirates prior to this movie, end up as pirates by its end. Many who were already pirates prior to this movie, end up as pirate captains by its end. More bargains are struck and broken by all parties throughout this movie than a season of Survivor! It's really hard to tell who has whose loyalty.

Barbossa turns out to be a rather honorable pirate captain (or as honorable as pirates get). He turns out to be just as fearless and resourceful and Jack himself. The storyline is awesome and filled with much magic, lore, and mysticism in addition to riddling battle scenes and swordplay. We even get to meet Jack Sparrow's father and mother (his father turns out to be the keeper of the infamous code book). This movie is a MUST SEE for anyone who enjoyed the first two.

**mega Spoiler**

**Begin Spoiler**

The movie picks up where the last one left off. Lord Beckett now has the heart of Davey Jones and is using it to control the Flying Dutchman, the mightiest of pirate ships. With the Dutchman's power, every known pirate ship is being sunk and every known pirate is being hanged.

The remaining crew of the now sunken Black Pearl meet up at Tia Dalma's hut in the swamps where she gives the crew a new mission: to travel to World's End and rescue Jack Sparrow from Davey Jones' locker, where he ended up when the Kraken took him down with the ship. Tia reintroduces the crew to the former dead Capt. Hector Barbossa (killed by Jack Sparrow in the first movie) who will serve as their captain for the new mission.

Unfortunately, they are without a ship or complete crew. They set out for Singapore to meet up with one of the 9 Pirate Lords, Capt. Sao Feng, to barter for a ship and crew. Capt. Feng asks Barbossa why they wish to go to Davey Jones' locker. Barbossa responds by tossing Feng a coin (a Spanish piece of 8) and tells him that the Brethren Court have been summoned as their last hope against Lord Beckett and Jack has one of the nine Pieces of Eight which is the mark of a pirate lord and member of the Brethren Court.

After a skirmish with Beckett's troops, the group leave aboard a ship toward World's End which is marked by a giant waterfall, over which Barbossa sails their ship, wrecking it entirely. The crew swim up onto the shores of the Locker, a desert-like world alongside an endless sea. Jack Sparrow, maddened by his time in the Locker finds the Black Pearl being carried by an army of unusual-looking crabs. The crabs carry him and the Pearl to the shore and into the water, where Jack is reunited with his crew.

Jack and Barbossa squabble over who will captain the Pearl as they set sail back to the real world. As the Pearl sails the waters of Davey Jones' Locker, a number of lost souls bound for the other world float by in boats. Elizabeth is stunned to find her father among them. He tells them that he was killed by Beckett which enrages Elizabeth. He further warns Will that should anyone stab the heart of Davey Jones, they must cut out their own heart and take his place as Captain of the Flying Dutchman for all eternity.

We get a little insight into Davey Jones' past in this movie as well. Apparently, he and the Goddess Calypso were in love. Calypso made Davey the Captain of the Flying Dutchman and bestowed upon him the duty of ferrying souls who die at sea to the other world. In an act of mutual betrayal, Davey Jones tells the first Brethren Court how to use the Pieces of 8 to seal Calypso into a mortal body (Tia Dalma, the voodoo lady, turns out to be Calypso's mortal body, by the way).

At the same time, Calypso curses Davey Jones, turning him and his crew into fish-like creatures. As part of the curse, Davey Jones can no longer set foot on dry land but for a single day every 10 years. Davey then abandons his duty to ferry the souls of the dead. He then cut his own heart from his body and locked it within the Dead Man's Chest.

Will now knows that he can't kill Davey Jones without bearing his curse himself which would pull him away from Elizabeth and their love. He is torn between his promise to his father and his love for Elizabeth.

As the Pearl sails back into the waters of the real world, they are met by Capt. Sao Feng who once again questions Barbossa's plan for taking on Beckett. Barbossa responds that he has found Calypso and intends to release her with the Pieces of 8 and use her Godly powers to aid them. However, they need all of the Brethren Court to do so, which includes Capt. Feng. In exchange for temporary custody of Elizabeth (whom Feng thinks is Calypso), he agrees to let them proceed and attend the Brethren Court.

As the ships part ways to make haste for Shipwreck Cove (the meeting place of the Brethren), Beckett's flag ship arrives to pursue them, but are delayed by a broken mast (Jack's doing). Beckett sends the Flying Dutchman after Feng. During the night, Feng's ship falls under attack by the Dutchman. Feng is mortally wounded by cannon fire and Elizabeth rushes to his aid him. With his dying breath, Feng jerks the necklace from his neck (his Piece of 8) and gives it to Elizabeth along with his crew. Elizabeth is now a Pirate Lord. He makes her swear to attend the Court in his place and bring an end to Beckett.

Elizabeth and crew are taken as prisoners aboard the Dutchman where Norrington is in charge. Elizabeth expresses her anger toward him for her father's death. Riddled with guilt, Norrington allows them to escape during the night but is killed by a Dutchman crewman in the process.

Elizabeth meets up with the Pearl's crew along with the rest of the Pirate Lords for the Brethren Court. Barbossa collects the 9 Pieces of 8 as part of the opening proceedings. Three options for action are laid on the table: To hold up inside the fortress of Shipwreck Cove for survival, to fight Beckett head-on, or to release Calypso for assistance (an option that brings about much fury among the lords). Unable to decide, Barbossa reminds the Court that final decision can be made by the court-elected Pirate King. Unfortunately, a King had not been elected in so long because each Brethren always voted for himself.

Without any other choice, the Brethren hold an election. Predictably, most of the lords stand and give their own name, including Elizabeth and Barbossa. As the table turns to Jack Sparrow, he stuns the Court by uttering "Captain Swann." Elizabeth is made the King of Pirates, her decision is to fight. The countless ships sail from the cove to meet the equally countless fleet of Lord Beckett, the Flying Dutchman at the lead.

On the deck of the Pearl, Barbossa announces that he will release Calypso himself as he still has the Pieces of 8 in his possession. He has Tia brought up on deck where he sets the Pieces of 8 on fire in front of her and Ragetti (the one-eyes pirate) whispers the incantation into her ear. Calypso is released, her body growing to immense proportions. Will shouts to her that Davey Jones was the one responsible for her imprisonment. In a shout of rage, she transforms into an army of crabs and dive into the sea.

A giant storm comes from nowhere along with a whirlpool that pulls the Pearl and the Dutchman into a one-on-one furious sea battle, cannon fire litters the air. Amidst the furious sea battle with crewman swinging to and from both ships, Jack Sparrow has taken possession of the Dead Man's Chest from the captain's quarters of the Dutchman. Jack and Davey go all over the ship in a furious sword clash admist the storm.

Upon the deck of the Pearl, Will and Elizabeth are admist a sword clash of their own as they discuss marriage. They agree to marry right now and shout for Barbossa to wed them as they clash swords with the crew of the Dutchman. Barbossa agrees and they are wed.

Jack and Davey continue their fight on the Dutchman's deck. Jack carries the chest in his hand while he cuts the tentacle from Davey's face that gripped the key. Elizabeth and Will show up to aid Jack. Davey fights them both off easily. Davey stands over Will with his blade out as Jack stands with Davey's heart in hand and his broken sword in the other. Undeterred, Davey stabs Will in the chest. Bootstrap Bill shows up and attacks Davey in anger. Davey prepares to strike back until he feels his heart struck. He turns to see Jack's hand holding Will's hand as he aids Will in stabbing the heart, the only way to save his life.

Davey Jones falls from the deck and into the ocean and the weather suddenly clears. Jack and Elizabeth swing from the Dutchman as it is pulled underwater by the whirlpool, the crew walking toward Will's body with a knife in hand and chanting "the Dutchman must have a captain." Beckett's ship prepares a massive armament of guns to take down the Pearl. All hope appears lost until the Flying Dutchman rises again, Will Turner at its head and a scar across his chest. The crew of the Dutchman step foward alongside Will as their fishlike appendages fall from their bodies, revealing normal men underneath.

The Pearl and the Dutchman combine forces to sandwich Beckett's flagship in intense gunfire, destroying it utterly. The pirates have won. Will joins Elizabeth ashore for the remainder of the day, his last day ashore for 10 years while he leads the Dutchman to ferry the souls of the dead. Will gives Elizabeth the Dead Man's Chest, now containing his own beating heart. She agrees to keep it safe for him. Will rejoins his crew aboard the Dutchman where he tells his father that he is released from his debt to server aboard the Dutchman. Bootstrap declines and chooses to serve with his son.

Jack finds himself in Tortuga, in the company of his usual taste in women. He walks toward the pier where he finds that Barbossa has taken the Pearl once again. As Jack sets sail in a small dingy as we first met him in the first movie, Barbossa discovers one of his treasure maps has been "trimmed" by Jack who now has the only treasure map they had. Jack lost the Pearl again, but he still had the last laugh.
