Full Metal Alchemist: The Broken Angel, based on the hit anime series, is an excellent action game with non-stop humor, worthy of its title. The game picks up with a sub-story which lies beneath the storyline of the anime.

Edward Elric, the Fullmetal Alchemist, and his brother, Alphonse Elric, begin on a Central-bound train when the train falls under attack by a band of rogue military personnel.

Shortly after stopping the train, Edward and Alphonse begin their journey on foot and meet up with the young, spunky Armony Eiselstein, an alchemist in training. Ed and Al are acquainted with Armony's father, who is also a famous alchemist. As the group venture together, they discover much secrecy abound young Armony and a flood of chimeras terrorizing the country-side.

The gameplay is a little weak, but the controls are solid. Edward and Alphonse are almost constantly coop during battles, Al doubling as a shield or self-guided attacker. Their are ample materials all over the place which can be quickly transmuted into weapons, items, and things needed to progress the story. Ed and Al can use any of several weapons transmuted by Edward, inluding stationery seige weapons (i.e. cannons, machine guns, and large crossbow platforms) for heavy damage. Some items can be further transmuted and given more power.

Cut scenes are great with anime-quality cinematics, using the same voice actors from the series. The boss fights are fun, but the underlings are very simple and only a handful pose a real threat for a newbie player. The storyline is somewhat short and one can easily finish the game in 2 days of less. Leveling up is somewhat slow and it is not likely that you'll come close to maxing your level out.

Overall, it's a good game for the FMA fan, but not for the serious gamer looking for a challenge.
