Alternative Schools - What's Your Opinion!
When Lindsey Tanner was made to spend the remainder of her school term at an alternative school, her mother said it was like being sentenced to prison.

Ummm, no, stupid.
Being allowed to continue your education instead of failing a grade and being able to return home every single night instead of sleeping behind bars isn't anything remotely similar to prison. Maybe now she'll learn that rules are rules and they are meant to be followed no matter how insignificant or trivial she thinks they are......and anything that allows the children to continue their education while maintaining a decent level of security for the "good" kids, gets an A+ from me!! |

I will have to agree with Brain on this one. Wonder why sometimes he can sound so wise and other threads he sounds so s _ _ _ _ d?

Maybe, but that's a terrible lesson to learn, as it doesn't really apply in the adult world she's about to enter. That's a good lesson to teach a 4 year old, but it does a 17 year old no good whatsoever. |

My point is that rules are sometimes meant to be broken, especially the trival ones. (probably not in this case) But cops and EMS don't always obey the speed limits they pledge to enforce. Nor do normal drivers rushing to hospitals because of a heart attack, labor, or appendicitis. Rules must be kept in context. Rules are a good idea, but I just disagree with the "no matter how insignificant or trivial" statement which seems a lot like "zero tolerance" (to make life convenient) rather than "justice" which is why we have judges to "take things into account" during sentencing. |
