Post It's Good To Put This Drug Kingpin Away

Federal prosecutors said King, who lived in a swanky neighborhood near Dallas, trafficked in cocaine for the past two decades, using "cells" of dealers to sell the drugs and a fleet of vehicles with hidden compartments to smuggle cocaine into Shreveport and bring the money back to Dallas. Much of the cocaine was sold in Shreveport's Lakeside neighborhood, prosecutors said.

This is a very good thing that this dealer of death (cocaine) has been sentenced to 30 years and will no longer be able to wreck lives. I am sure there will be another to step up and take his place if it has not already happened. I have a nephew that is still down that nasty trail of addiction and speed kills not only the person but the family too. Good riddance.

This prosecution makes absolutely no difference in the availability or price of drugs in our area (or any other) it just means some other sociopath is going to get rich instead. The only way to defeat drug crime is legalization, period.

I prefer decriminalization combined with education and, hell, hypnosis or whatever else if it helps. I (think) I understand your point. But the transition time going from illegal to legal is the difficult period. Like taking a telco from a regulated public utility to competitive company, something is needed in the middle to ease the transition and avoid sudden chaos.
