I don't mean to be insensitive to AA or to the devistation brought on by the terrible addiction of alchholism. But what is it about our society were we always looks for a magic pill to solve all our problems? So now LSD is the pill to find or admit that there is a higher power? I think I'll stick to going to church or studing the bible. Gotta love the Swiss and Canadians though. Very imaginative bunch. But I am surprised that "we" didn't think of that one first.

By the way, who invented Viagra? I would like to curse them, if only for all the junk email. How about a pill to cure spam? I hope the French, Canadians, and Swiss are working on that one. I might still get spam, but maybe I just won't care as much.

This article only serves to confirm what many of us already knew, namely that many of the illegal drugs have beneficial applications. Personally, I've always resented the hell out of someone, anyone, telling me what I can or can't do. You all understand what I'm saying, right? If I want to drop acid, smoke grass, or shoot heroin into my veins, what the bloody hell business is it of yours or the government's? And I'm talking strictly personal use here, so please, lets not have any comments along the lines of "but what about the children?" When you cut thru all the crap and get right down to it, the main objections to people pretty much doing whatever they want (provided nobody else is harmed or their rights infringed upon) are 1. We can't have people engaging in anything that smacks of original thought (in other words, we can't have people thinking TOO damn much about how inept and incompetent the establishment is at running things)...and 2. If we can't figure out a way to tax it, lets make it illegal.

Say what you will about the Europeans, but theres just no denying the fact that they're always a step ahead of us when it comes to "better living thru chemistry". They're always "setting the pace". Case in point, ABSINTHE!

yes I do understand. I have always wondered about the irony of what I can and cannot buy or do legally. I think your resentment is valid if you analyze what makes something legal (alcohol, tobacco, caffeine, etc.) verses somethign illegal (pot, opiates, etc.). I think a major factor here is basic racism against cultures and societies who do not adapt to "our" historic moral values. (That and dollars.. Follow the money) Could it be that my wife and I do things in the privacy of our bedroom that are actually illegal? Is that possible? How can that be in a "free society"? Who's business is that?

What I find ironic is that liberals (stereotyped as pot smoking and sexually experimental) are largely associated with the democratic party (for more government) while conservatives (alchohol drinkers and prudes) are largely thought of as republicans (for less government)?? At least in theory...LOL Seems to me like it would be the other way around. Perhaps this is why I like William Buckley. Actually both parties seem to be bent on larger government with no signs of shrinkage (ala Reagan)

President Bush 1 & 2, Bill Clinton, John Kerry and Jimmy Cater all members
of Skull and Bones. My point is there a two party system or are they all
just members of the same game (George Orwell) society ? Think back to
the port security deal and all the above where on the same page but the
American public did not buy into the deal and they dropped it. Get this
President Reagan was the only president that was not a member and it
almost got him killed. H. Bush was a eleventh hour vice president pick
and yes he was and still is a member of Skull and Bones.
