Shreveport begins a water conservation program to address low water pressure in south Shreveport neighborhoods

I live within the "affected area". I have been resisting the temptation to rant. I pay my city taxes and water bill like everyone else. But I'm not supposed to water my yard when I want to pay for it like everyone else does? Why? Poor engineering? Poor management? It's not like the buildout of this area over the past 15 years was all of a sudden. What was sudden was our annexation into the city limits for the tax base months after I moved in.

Here in Florida we are so low on water that we can only water our yards once a week. And there are time limits along with washing cars etc. THe fines are pretty steep if you are caught.

We need lots of rain here!

Yeah, my parents live in Jax. They are building a house now further southwest. It was 10 miles from a fire line last time I talked to them. You guys need some rain badly.

I'll probably be running my sprinklers more now. Here's why. With reduced water pressure, my sprinkler system won't reach as far as it used to, and now misses the middle of my yard. So now I'm gunna have to lug out the old hose and sprinkler head into the middle of the yard and let er rip. But without a timer, I will probably let it run too long and use more water than I would if the timer were doing its job.

In fact, cutting back on pressure, THEN asking us to conserve on top of that is a double slap. Why not pick one or the other. (because they are that deep in need is why)

Meanwhile plumbers are putting pamplets on doorknobs advertising expensive devices that overcome low water pressure. Maybe the "water conservation" aspect of this is to make folks feel guilty for "going around" the problem for themselves. And for the businesses who sell them.
