This is a horrible idea that violates pretty much every precept this country was founded upon. Only Congress could view a voluntary transaction between two parties exchanging money for a perfectly legal product as something that needs to be corrected through legislation.
Gas station: Our gas is X price, feel free to purchase it. Motorist: OK, I will purchase that fuel at that price. Congressman: THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!!!!! |

Gas
What's outrageous is the taxes we pay on gas. If Congress really cared they would cut the taxes for the summer or until prices stabilized. What Congress is doing now is just smoke and mirrors. Cut the taxes!!!

We currently pay $0.184 per gallon in Federal taxes.
Obviously I'd rather pay less, but i's not really that outrageous. |
