In a hastily called news conference, La. Gov. Bobby Jindal made a special trip to Shreveport to meet with Mayor Cedric Glover and others to address the earlier news by General Motors it was shutting down the 2nd Shift Production Line at its Shreveport facility.
The news conference, taped by Tom Pace from "The Talk of the Town" was held in the Mayor's large conference room, Monday night, July 28th at 7:20pm. In his remarks, Jindal said that the state, "...will do whatever it takes to restore the Shreveport GM Plant to full production."
The Governor was also joined by his Secretary of Economic Development, Stephen Moret; Director of the State's Workforce Commission, Tim Barfield; Woody Wilson and Randy Lucky from the Caddo Parish Commission; and Morgan Johnson, President of Local 2166 of the UAW.
