Phil Chen Legendary Bass Musician for Rod Stewart, The Who & More With Tom Pace on Burton FestivalPosted by: Tom Pace - August 22, 2008He goes by PhilChenDeBassman@hotmail.com on his e-mail. Phil Chen talked "One-on-One" with Tom Pace from "The Talk of the Town" this past Thursday night downtown at Maggie's Hanger in Shreveport, Louisiana. Talking about how he first got started, Chen, a native of Jamaica, told Pace his history in learning to play the guitar, moving to the U.S., and then working in Europe with such greats as Rod Stewart and others. Chen was there along with Rusty Young from the rock group "Poco" for the big Birthday Celebration for James Burton: Legendary Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame member and Shreveport native. Both Young and Chen are part of the 17 top musicians from across the country performing Saturday night, August 23rd at the 3rd James Burton International Music Festival at the Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport, Louisiana. Grammy and CMA Hall of Fame member Emmy Lou Harris will join Burton as well for the big night of music to benefit the James Burton Foundation that donates guitars to local children for their music enrichment classes in the Shreveport and Bossier public schools.
