Rep. Jane Smith Talks with Tom Pace: Urges Gov. Bobby Jindal to Veto Legislature's Pay Raise BillPosted by: Tom Pace - June 27, 2008La. State Rep. Jane Smith continues to urge Gov. Bobby Jindal to veto the Legislature's 200% pay raise recently passed in Baton Rouge by both the Senate and the House. While Jindal is against the pay raise, he seems unwilling to veto it, for fear he will lose the support for his agenda. Tom Pace spoke with La. State Rep. Jane Smith who continues her battle to get the Governor to veto the bill...saying, she told them it was going to be "...a tornado," and, "...nobody listened." Now, with House Speaker Jim Tucker's statement that if Jindal wants to veto the pay raise "they (the legislators) would understand." Smith says, Tucker's statement, thus gives the Governor the rooom to veto the bill, without incurring the legislators' wrath The voters are still hopping mad, filing recall petitions against key legislators who supported the pay raise...all the while, being very vocal about Jindal not keeping his campaign promise to not allow those pay raises.
