Barkus & Meoux goes to the Goat?! Thousands attend 10th Annual "Mutt Strut & Cat Stroll"
The fog lifted, the skies cleared, and the forecast was correct: 'Reigning Cats and Dogs' it did in Shreveport's Riveview Park on Clyde Fant Parkway. It was a little cool, (temperature about 50 degrees) but a beautiful Sunday, nonetheless.
For the first time in their 10-year history, the King of The Krewe of Barkus & Meoux Parade was a Goat! Not just any goat, mind you, but, "Simon The Goat" from Coushatta, Louisiana. And Ray Abney, the Krewe's King Ambassador, had his picture made with Simon...
The 2008 Queen of the Barkus and Meoux Parade was "Little Bit" ...who paraded along with some 300 other entrants in the walk around Riverview Park. It was truly a sight to behold. A crowd estimated at aver 4,000 attended the Barkus and Meoux Parade...and a good time was had by all.
