BREAKING 11:45am 4-17-08 Kenny Wayne Shepherd Headlines "A Benefit Concert for Buddy Flett"
Click here to listen as Kenny Wayne talked recently with Tom Pace on his "The Talk of the Town" radio show on SuperTalk 1340, KRMD. Shepherd tells Pace about how important Flett is to the music industry, and what he's meant to Kenny Wayne's career.
In February of this year, Flett contracted viral encephalitis and spent several weeks at LSU Health Sciences Center. He is now out of the hospital and receiving speech therapy twice a week along with constant work at home to recover his memory and speech. He's responding well to treatment, and a full recovery is hoped for.
Unfortunately, this medical event has caused Flett to be unable to work for more than two months already with many more weeks, if not months, ahead where his income will be disrupted.
“A Benefit for Buddy Flett” will raise funds to help Flett in this challenging time to pay medical expenses and living costs as he recovers.
The fundraiser will begin at 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 27 with Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Hubert Sumlin and numerous area acts performing for their friend and colleague, Buddy Flett.
Among the acts committed for "A Benefit for Buddy Flett", (subject to change)include: Jerry Beach; The Bluebirds; Jay Davis; Eddie Giles; Michael Grady; Miki Honeycutt; Noids!;
Professor Porkchop; The Roscoes; and Maggie Warwick.
Tickets will be $25 and $35 with a $100 VIP ticket available which will include a ‘Meet and Greet’ with Shepherd, Sumlin and others before the concert.
Tickets may be purchased by calling The Strand Theatre box office at 226-8555.
