BREAKING 2pm 4-21-08 NW La. Special Olympics $16K Winner in KTBS Oprah Big Give Ark-La-Tex

SHREVEPORT, LA From KTBS-TV3 (By: Tom Pace, Talk of the Town) BREAKING: COMMUNITY 2pm 4-21-08 "The winner of the KTBS Oprah's Big Give Ark-La-Tex is Special Olmpics," Rick Rowe announced live last night on KTBS-TV during their 10pm newscast.
Standing in the KTBS studio with all 5 non-profit finalists for the $10,000 grand prize, Rowe showed the large check to the station's viewers Sunday night, April 20th, during the presentation segment on Channel 3.
"Oprah's Big Give: Arklatex" was created in conjunction with ABC's reality show "Oprah's Big Give." KTBS 3 and the Eldorado Resort Casino teamed up to help a local charity or group give big in the community.
Out of nearly 200 viewer nominated groups, Northwest Area Special Olympics was among five finalists chosen. The other groups were: Bikers Against Child Abuse, CLASS ACT Community Center, Drop It Like It's Hot and Step-Up, Inc.
But the other four groups did not walk away empty handed. The Eldorado Casino Resort decided to donate and extra $6,000 to the Northwest Area Special Olympics and $1,500 to each of the other four finalists.
