BREAKING VERDICT: 7:45pm 4-25-08 Jury Verdict: Brandon Davis "Guilty" of 1st Degree Murder
VERDICT 7:30pm 4-25-08 A Caddo parish jury handed down a "guilty" verdict tonight in the first degree murder trial of Brandon Davis.
The 24 year-old Davis was accused of carjacking and killing a Houston woman three years ago from a Bossier City Motel.
The jury deliberated roughly three hours, returning with the guilty verdict just after 7 p.m.. Court recessed for the evening Friday night at 7:15 and will reconvene at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 26th.
Evidentiary testimony will be heard Saturday, followed by instruction on the penalty phase. The prosecution will be asking for the death sentence.
Prosecutors say Davis and Dwight Bacon kidnapped Tosha Lampkins from a Bossier City motel in April 2005. Then they raped her twice, stuffed her in the back of her rental car and set it on fire, according to a Times article.
David McClatchey said Bacon is the mastermind behind the events leading to Lampkins’ death. McClatchey said his client did not intend to kill her.
