BREAKING 4pm 4-28-08 Obama's Ex-Preacher,Rev. Wright Defends Church & Sermons on Racism
Tuesday, Apr 29, 2008 1:13am

WASHINGTON, DC From CNN (By: Tom Pace, Talk of the Town)  BREAKING POLITICS 4:15pm 4-28-08  In what can only be classified as a "millstone" around Barack Obama's neck, his ex-pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright spoke to the National Press Club today and defended  his sermons and rhetoric that he spoke from his pulpit.

This Monday, Rev.Wright said the black church, not him, had been subjected to attacks in the 2008 presidential campaign, according to CNN. Obama has distanced himself of late from Wright, however, the subject seems to dog him wherever he goes on the campaign trail.

Earlier this year, some of Wright's sermons, circulated and widely discussed on the Internet and on television, became an issue in the Democratic presidential race because of the former pastor's ties to Obama.

Wright is a retired pastor from the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, Illinois, where Obama worships.

In one sermon, Wright said the U.S. had brought the September 11 attacks upon itself and said "America's chickens are coming home to roost."

When asked to explain those remarks, Wright said, "Have you heard the whole sermon? ... No, you haven't heard the whole sermon. That nullifies that question," CNN reported.

W
right said those who heard the entire sermon would have known that he was quoting the ambassador from Iraq and keeping in line with biblical principles.
