BREAKING 11:45pm 5-9-08 Bossier Police: Triple Murder Suspect Robert McCoy Now in Custody
Friday, May 09, 2008 10:16pm

BOSSIER CITY, LA (By: Tom Pace, Talk of The Town) BREAKING CRIMEWATCH: 11:45pm 5-9-08  Triple murder suspect Robert McCoy is now in custody, according to Bossier City Police Chief Mike Halphen. McCoy is wanted for the murder of his 17 year-old stepson and the boy's grandparents, this past Monday night, May 5th, at a Patricia Plaza housing complex in Bossier City.

The announcement of McCoy's capture was made about 10:20 Friday night, from Bossier Public Information Officer Mark Natale.  More details on McCoy's apprehension are to be released by Chief Halphen in a Saturday afternoon news conference.

The news comes a day after Shreveport police bombarded that city's Cedar Grove neighborhood, chasing a tip that McCoy was riding around in a Chevrolet Avalanche on 20-inch rims. The police turned up empty-handed, but the manhunt continued, according to a story in The Times.

Willie Young, 50, and his wife, Christine Colston, were killed Monday night when MCCoy barged into their apartment looking for his wife and their daughter, Yolanda Colston, authorities have said.

McCoy opened fire, striking the couple and their 17-year-old grandson Gregory Colston in the head, according to police. The teen, McCoy's stepson, died Tuesday.

McCoy was being sought on on three counts of capital murder. His brother, 26-year-old Carlos McCoy, was arrested Wednesday for reportedly helping him hide from police. Carlos McCoy is being held on $1 million bond.

Yolanda Colston remains in protective custody.
