BREAKING 10:30pm 5-14-08 Salvation Army Serving Storm Victims With Aid Across LouisianaTheir Emergency Assistance Team is continuing to process casework referrals with the Red Cross to provide personal aid to flood and fire victims. “Once the victims have their forms in place with Red Cross we give them vouchers to purchase what they need to start over in our Thrift Store," said K.C. Stone, Director of Development for The Salvation Army. "Our biggest problem right now is we are low on everything: couches, ice boxes, stoves, dressers, dinette sets, said Stone, "We need our community to donate items like these, so we can serve our neighbors in need properly," she added. The Salvation Army is responding with food and care at a local shelter. Services will continue as long as needed , over 350 meals have been served since the shelter opened today and “the mobile food unit Canteen" is on stand by from EOC and we will assist when called upon from EOC.
