Question: When's the last time this happened: Groundhog Day & The Krewe of Gemini Parade in Shreveport, Louisiana fall on the same date?  Answer: This year, February 2nd, 2008,  for sure.  How long ago in times past, did those simultaneous events occur, I'm not so sure.

Well, 'ol "Punxsutawney Phil" was pulled out of his burrow in Gobbler's Knob, Pennsylvania, bright and early this morning...saw his shadow, and declared 6 more weeks of winter.  I'm sure "Claude the Cajun Crawfish", saw his shadow, too, when he wandered out  from his mudhole, on the banks of the Red River in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Winter it is. for another 6 weeks, according to a groundhog, and crawfish.  Take that, NOAA Weather forecasters.  By the way, Phil's been doing this for 122 years (and, he doesn't look his age.)

As far as the Krewe of Gemini Parade in Shreveport goes, it's quite early this year. Gemini officially rolled at 4:30pm, this Saturday, February 2nd, 2008, with a large crowd in attendance. That warmer forecast today kept our temps on the mild side, and cloudy with an overnight low, only 56 degrees.  No rain, tonite, but rain, and possible storms in the forecast for the Krewe of Highland Parade on Sunday, February 3rd.
