BREAKING COMMUNITY: 4:30pm 5-20-08 Ashley Defatta Wade Wins 2008 Bossier ATHENA Award

BOSSIER CITY, LA (By: Tom Pace, Talk of the Town) BREAKING COMMUNITY NEWS:  The Bossier Chamber of Commerce presented Ashley Defatta Wade with the 2008 ATHENA Award today at Sam’s Town Hotel and Casino. This life time achievement award recognizes outstanding business women in the Bossier-Shreveport Community. 

Ashley Wade is Regional Vice President of Human Resources for Horseshoe and Harrah’s Casino Hotel. Under her leadership she has personally developed, trained and promoted more than 30 women into roles of higher responsibility. 

After hours Wade supports Providence House, her church youth program, Bossier City Little League and Dixie Sports (she has four kids!)  and the “Adopt An Angel Program. 

The ATHENA Award is presented to a woman who has attained and personifies the highest level of professional excellence in her business or profession, has devoted time and energy to the community in a meaningful way, and most especially, has opened doors of leadership opportunity for women. 

Also nominated for the 2008 ATHENA Award were: 
Stephanie Rogers ~ Bossier Parish Community College; 
Dianne Roark ~ Coordinating Development; Lisa Janes ~ GAP Broadcasting Shreveport-Bossier; Valerie Jamison-Gunn ~ Multicultural Center of the South; Hedy Hebert ~ Benefit Consulting; Mayor Martha McGee ~ Mayor of Haughton; Romney Guy ~ Goodwill Industries.

The ATHENA Leadership Model includes these tenets:  Authentic Self, Celebration and Joy, Collaboration, Courageous Acts, Fierce Advocacy, Giving Back, Learning and Relationships.  These tenets reflect women’s unique ways of knowing and leading.
