Super Bowl XLII- 2/3/08 FOX TV 5:17pm cst: Giants vs Patriots, &, A Passel of Super Bowl Ads
Saturday, Feb 02, 2008 3:50pm
PHOENIX, AZ  From CNNSI & ESPN (By: Tom Pace, Executive Editor, "Talk of the Town")  2-2-08
Super Bowl XLII storyline: "Tom Brady and the New England Patriots are persuing perfection, while young
Eli Manning, and the New York Giants want to upset the oddsmakers' favorites."

Who'd a thunk it?  These two teams would be 'the best of the best' representing the NFC & the AFC. On the near side of the field: The Pats, under head Coach Bill Belichick, undefeated at 18-0, while on the far side
(of of the new, state-of-the-art University of Phoenix Stadium, in Glendale, Arizona), at 13-6, those upstarts: The Giants, coached by Tom Coughlin.

The 2008 Super Bowl Matchup: The Patriots and veteran Tom Brady:  Polished, Experienced, Matter-of-Fact...
The Giants, with young, Eli Manning: Loose, Spoilers, Nothing-to-Lose (Except the Championship Trophy).
The Vegas oddsmakers put the over/under at 54 points...making the Patriots, 12-point favorites.

As for me, I'm middle of the road.  On paper, I believe the Patriots win...but, my heart's with the Giants.  Personally, I'm rooting for Archie's boy, Eli to pull off the upset.  How sweet it would be to see the Mannings have back-to-back Super Bowl victories.  Peyton & the Colts last year, Eli & the Giants, this year.

Oh yeah, my prediction:  New England 31- New York 28 (an OT is possible).  A shootout, no less.

Now, about the OTHER Big Contest: The SUPER BOWL COMMERCIALS. Just who will win the coveted
"Battle of the Ads?"  It's become an annual American ritual.  Predicting the best Super Bowl Commercial.  Heck, there's websites where you log on, and rate the ads. I've even discovered a link to preview the various Super Bowl XLII commercials that will air on Super Sunday.  Just CLICK HERE, and enjoy.

I must admit, I have more than a passing interest in rating the Super Bowl Ads.  Having been in marketing and advertising for some 30 years, I like to see if I can match wits with the rest of America, rating Madison Avenue's 2008 Super Bowl commercials...From the biggies like Budweiser, Coke, and Pepsi, to those one-time-only ads on the BIGGEST Television Advertising Plartform.

Then there's THE FAMILY.  We all have friendly-wagering on the best ads:  My daughter Valarie,  and her husband Bert ...my better-half Su Zanne, and her daughter Heidi and husband Jason...and her son Kyle, and his wife, Tracy.  We'll all be in front of Hedi & Jason's Hi-Def TV, watching and cheering. Chips are optional.

From Tom Pace, at The Talk of the Town: Happy Viewing...May the Best Team, and Commercial Win!
