BREAKING 6-4-08 No VP Nod for Jindal; McCain on Jindal: "He's Next Generation of Leadership"
Thursday, Jun 05, 2008 7:08am

BATON ROUGE, LA  From The Times (By: Tom Pace, Talk of the Town) BREAKING POLITICS: 10pm  6-4-08  It appears Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal will continue his job running the state...and not as the Vice-Presidential running mate of Republican nominee John McCain.

That  bit of presidential political news came about as Gov. Jindal hosted McCain in a Baton Rouge Town Hall meeting, as reported by Mike Hasten in The Times.

Hasten wrote: Presidential hopeful Sen. John McCain indicated today that Gov. Bobby Jindal will not be his choice for vice president.

When questioned in a Baton Rouge Town Hall Meeting about the possibility of Jindal being his running mate, McCain said "I believe Gov. Jindal is the next generation of leadership, not just of the Republican Party but of America.

"What he's been able to accomplish in his 36 years on earth is remarkable," McCain said. But he quickly added "Gov. Jindal has a full schedule on a full agenda here."

Speculation of Jindal being the vice presidential nominee surfaced several months ago and accelerated when Jindal appeared on the Tonight Show and spent Memorial Day weekend at McCain's ranch in Arizona.

Jindal has repeatedly said he has not discussed the possibility with McCain and does not believe the position would be offered.
