BREAKING sports 6-5-08 NBA Legend Willis Reed Comments on Celtics-Lakers Game 1 Tonite
2008 NBA FINALS 5:15pm 6-5-08 It's been 21 years since the Lakers met the Celtics for an NBA Championship- going back to 1987. Tonite, for the 11th time, these two giants are going to the hardwood, tonite in Boston, for Game 1 of the Best-of-7 Series.
Click here to listen as Grambling alum, and NBA Legend Willis Reed talks with Tom Pace about the Celtics-Lakers Rivalry.
AP sports writer Tom Withers puts it this way on the ESPN website: Nearing Super Bowl-like proportions, the buildup has included black-and-white footage from the 1960s — images of Red Auerbach puffing a victory cigar, Bill Russell swatting away a shot and Jerry West rising for a jumper.
Editor's note from NBA: "Of all the thrilling baskets scored in NBA history, there have been few more fabled than the two Willis Reed hit in the first few minutes of Game 7 of the 1970 NBA Finals. Although they counted for only four points on the scoreboard, they were worth a million buckets of inspiration in the hearts of the New York Knicks." TP
