AP sports writer Tom Withers puts it this way on the ESPN website: Nearing Super Bowl-like proportions, the buildup has included black-and-white footage from the 1960s — images of Red Auerbach puffing a victory cigar, Bill Russell swatting away a shot and Jerry West rising for a jumper. Editor's note from NBA: "Of all the thrilling baskets scored in NBA history, there have been few more fabled than the two Willis Reed hit in the first few minutes of Game 7 of the 1970 NBA Finals.
