BREAKING: 10:45pm 2-5-08 Tornadoes kill 7 in Arkansas Tuesday; Storms pound La. & Tenn.

SHREVEPORT, LA (By: Tom Pace, Talk of the Town)  UPDATE:  
10:45p  2-5-08   7 people were killed Tuesday, February 5th, in Arkansas as a powerful line of severe storms cut a swath of destruction across the state.  According to KTHV-TV 11 in Little Rock,  Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe says seven people died as a result of a tornado carving a path thru Pope, Conway, and Van Buren counties. 

The threat of severe weather for Shreveport-Bossier has expired, however a line of storms pounded the Shreveport-Bossier area earlier tonight, causing power outages, according to The Times newspaper. Another line of showers continues to push across North Louisiana, in advance of a cold front.

Shreveport's National Weather Service has issued the following weather statement at 10:21pm Tuesday, February 5th, 2008 for the Ark-La-Tex:


SCATTERED SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS...WILL CONTINUE TO

DEVELOP THROUGH THE MIDNIGHT HOUR...ALONG WITH GUSTY NORTHWEST WINDS AND COOLER TEMPERATURES,  FOLLOWING THE PASSAGE OF A COLD FRONT EARLIER THIS EVENING. HOWEVER...SEVERE WEATHER IS NOT EXPECTED.
