BOSSIER CITY, LA (By: Tom Pace, Talk of the Town) COMMUNITY EVENT UPDATE 6-22-08:  "Ernest's crab claws are all tucked away with care, waiting for the 10th Annual Cooking Classic, next year."  That line seems appropriate for a record turnout of 1,500 persons who came, saw, and sampled the cooking of some 60 celebrity chefs from the area.

Click here to listen as Frank Williams, one of the event organizers, tells Tom Pace about the success of this year's event.  It was definately a place to see and be seen at Harrah's Louisiana Downs Red River Room, Saturday night, June 21st.

Benefitting the Sounthern University Shreveport Foundation, this year's Celebrity Culinary Classic saluted local restauranteur Ernest Palmisano, Jr.  The owner of Ernest's Orleans Restaurant, he continues the tradition of his dad, Ernest Palmisano.

Click here to listen as Ernest, Jr. talks with Tom Pace about his restaurant, his world-famous marinated crab claws, and being honored at the event.

In addition to Ernest's crab claws, this year's 9th Annual Cooking Classic featured delicacies from local chefs like Sheriff Steve Prator; Andy Shehee; Chesapeake Energy's, Kevin McCotter; Reece Middleton; Photographer, Neil Johnson; Shreveport City Marshal Charlie Caldwell, along with several other local politicians and dignitaries.

Everywhere you looked there were well-known community leaders having a good time: Helen Black and Brooks Robinson from Harrah's Louisiana Downs who hosted the event; 4th Congressional candidate Jeff Thompson; Fletcher Thorne-Thompson and his wife; Caddo D.A. candidate Charles Scott and his wife; Winzer Andrews from Southern University Shreveport; Caddo School Board member Dottie Bell, and so many others.

It will be truly a night to be remembered by all.
