HAYNESVILLE SHALE LSU-S Hosts La Oil & Gas Assoc Mineral Rights/Leasing Seminar: June 24

SHREVEPORT, LA (By: Tom Pace, Talk of the Town) BREAKING: HAYNESVILLE SHALE NEWS 8pm 6-23-08 With the increased interest in the Haynesville Shale leasing and production across Northwest Louisiana, the public is invited to a free informational seminar Tuesday, June 24th at LSU-S in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Don Briggs, President, Louisiana Oil & Gas Association (LOGA) and Becky Berry, Director, LSU Center for Business and Economic Research (CBER) will host the educational seminar on the basics of land/mineral leasing and drilling from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the LSU- Shreveport University Theater Center. Tuesday evening’s forum will include experts from Shreveport, Bossier City and Lafayette who will discuss seismic activity, leasing in the Haynesville Shale, drilling and production sites.
Educating the public and government of the importance of the oil and gas industry in Louisiana is part of the mission of LOGA.
Kevin Hill, President of Hill Geophysical Consulting in Shreveport, will lead the seismic activity discussion. Hill has more than 29 years of broad Gulf Coast and international experience in exploration and production geophysics and geology. He specializes in integrating state-of-the-art geophysical technologies with geology.
Bryan J. Hanks, President of BETA Land Services, L.L.C. in Lafayette, will discuss leases, royalties, and royalty buyers and units. Hanks is a Certified Professional Landman with over 27 years experience in all phases of landwork. He has also served on the Executive Committee of the Board of LOGA since 1997 and has been Chairman of LOGA’s Gulf Coast Prospect Exposition (GCPE).
Raymond Lasseigne, President and co-owner of TMR Exploration, Inc. in Bossier City and co-owner of Langston Drilling Company, L.L.P. and Sandia Drilling, L.L.C. will lead the drilling discussion and will talk about the rig pad, fracturing, vertical drilling or standard rig, and horizontal drilling or horizontal rig.
Lasseigne has over 35 years of varied oilfield experience and manages and coordinates the exploration, engineering, land and acquisition activities for TMR Exploration, Inc. TMR is co-owned by John S. Turner, Jr. and is one of the larger independents in the Shreveport area.
Tommy Smart, shareholder in the Lafayette office of the Onebane Law Firm, will lead the discussion on completed sites and production facilities. Smart has practiced oil and gas law for 25 years and focuses on a broad range of oil and gas matters, including oil and gas title examination; acquisition and sale of producing properties; structuring, drafting and negotiation of various agreements; 3-D seismic permitting; and licensing. Smart is Vice President of the Mineral Law Section of the Louisiana State Bar Association.
LOGA is a non-profit association that lobbies before the Louisiana state legislature and state agencies. LOGA’s mandate is to provide the oil and gas industry with a working environment that will enhance the industry.
Louisiana State University in Shreveport’s Center for Business and Economic Research provides business and economic research on the Northwest Louisiana region. The Center acts as a collection center for research data and strives to be a partner with government, business and industry to promote economic growth for the region.
The primary objectives of the Center include economic research; applied research; maintaining database of economic indicators for region and disseminating Census data.
