BREAKING WX 7-6-08 Tropical Storm Bertha Strengthens- Could Become Atlantic's 1st Hurricane

MIAMI, FL From CNN (By: Tom Pace, Talk of the Town) BREAKING WX:  1:30pm 7-6-08  Tropical Storm Bertha is approaching warmer waters and is likely to strengthen during the coming days , and become the Atlantic's first hurricane of the season. 

At 11 a.m. ET Sunday, Bertha was centered about 1,185 miles east of the northern Leeward Islands in the Caribbean, with maximum sustained winds near 50 mph, and some higher gusting is predicted. 

According to CNN, forecasters say t
he storm is moving toward the west at about 21 mph. It's still too early to say if or where Bertha will hit land.

he first named storm this year, Arthur, formed in the Atlantic the day before the season officially started June 1 and soaked the Yucatan Peninsula.
